What state has the most Hail Storms?
According to a report released by State Farm insurance companies Colorado ranks third for the most hail damage repair claims for automobiles in 2016. The average claim was over $4000.00 for a car, truck or suv. Most of the automobile hail repairs claims came from a single storm that struck Colorado Springs, CO with an estimated population of 416,427, on July 28th. Colorado had hail storms as early as May 2016 and the last was in September 2016.

Another hail study was conducted by State Farm insurance company in March of 2019 revealed that Colorado was the state with the most wind and hail loses, followed by Texas, Illinois, Minnesota and Missouri. I am sure you are like us and would gladly give up the title of #1 for most Hail Repair loses. Interestingly, Florida does have the most thunderstorms!
What is Hail Alley and which states are in it?
Most Hail storms occur most frequently in the plains states, hailstorms have been observed just about everywhere thunderstorms occur. However, this area predominantly lies within the states of Colorado, Kansas, Texas, Wyoming, Nebraska and Oklahoma. This is one of the reasons we decided to open our Hail Repair shop in the Denver and Greeley areas.
Do we get BIG Hail in Colorado?
Yes, Colorado’s state record is 4.5” in diameter, which is the size of a softball. Were you living here in 2011? This is the last time we got hail this size. Unfortunately, in most cases, we would not be able to help with hail damage repairs. This size hail typically totals any vehicle in the storm’s path! I will keep my Honda in the garage when I know a Hail storm is approaching just in case!
